The race is a footrace. It’s prohibited to use other types of transportation.
The teams have 8 hours to find as many controls as possible.
15 minutes before the start the teams are handed a map of Nuuk’s backcountry with 25 controls. The 15 minutes can be used for route planning.
Each control gives 4 points.
There is 1 penalty point for every minute past the finish time.
A team is disqualified if they are more than 30 minutes too late.
The team with the most points wins.
If two teams have the same number of points, the team that used the least time wins.
The teams should navigate purely using the provided map. The only allowed aid is a non-electronic compass.
For safety reasons, we recommend all teams to bring electronic navigation equipment, for example, GPS, inReach, SPOT, running watch or smartphone. These are only to be used in an emergency or if a team forfeits the race. A team is disqualified if they use electronic equipment.
The teams have to navigate and plan their route themselves. It is prohibited to get help from people outside the race. It is allowed for multiple teams to help each other, for example by running together.
